Château Cazenac: the fairytale château in South West France

There are pretty châteaux, and then there's Château Cazenac. It's often called the fairytale château, and once you see those turrets peeping out over the trees you'll understand why. It sits high above the Dordogne Valley, roughly halfway between Bergerac and Sarlat, with the kind of view that makes guests stop mid-sentence and just stare.

The château dates back to the 14th century and has been lovingly restored, so you get all the old stone, towers and history without having to rough it. It's set in 25 hectares of parkland and gardens, and there are old Périgord farmhouses on the estate, so your nearest and dearest can stay on site. That's a big plus for a destination wedding, as nobody has to worry about taxis at 2am.

There are plenty of options for the day itself. You can say your vows outside under the trees with the whole valley stretched out behind you, or head into the beautiful converted barn if you fancy something cosier (or if the French weather decides to be more Bolton than Bergerac). Drinks on the terrace with those panoramic views are pretty hard to beat, too.

From a photographer's point of view, Cazenac is a real treat. The light in the evening is gorgeous, with golden sun filtering through the trees and across the valley, and there's a stunning backdrop around every corner. That means you get relaxed, natural moments of you and your guests having a brilliant time, and the jaw-dropping shots you'll want on the wall for years to come.

If you're planning a wedding at Château Cazenac, I'd love to hear all about it. Get in touch and let's chat about capturing your day.
